Information primarly for users of Version
6.0:
It is DatAid's policy to continually make improvements and
correction available to GetARef's users. Accordingly, within each major
version (4, 5, 6, etc), new updates have regulary been published on
GetARef''s web site. Accordingly, the latest release of GetARef's main program (version
6.000.015) and
import routines (version 6.001.013)
are fairly close to GetARef 7.0 with respect to
functionality.
Yet, the
accumulated enhancements in GetARef
6.0 together with
the enhancements described below warrant a new version number.

Technical |
|
-
Whenever a reference files is overwritten - when physically sorting a
file or when importing references - GetARef creates a
backup file with '_Backup' added to the file name,
e.g., MyFile_Backup.ref.
|
- When working with
reference files on remote drives (e.g., a server in a LAN), GetARef
automatically creates a local copy of the reference file and all
associated files and restores the server when the reference file is
closed. This dramatically improves performance when working on some LANs.
|
- Display sorting can
now be achieved without identification of duplicates.
