GetARef offers well-organized dialogs to enter reference information and ...			... GetARef always checks if the entered information is reasonable.
A reference file is actually a text file and can be edited in any word processor. GetARef features an advanced text editor of its own to edit reference files.

Journal name database

GetARef features a journal name database containing > 18.000 abbreviated and complete journal names in addition to their ISSN numbers. Whenever a journal name is entered it is checked against the database.

The journal name database is used by GetARef both as a Thesaurus (i.e., to find alternative names of a particular journal) and as a spelling dictionary. It is easy for the user to enter new journal names.

Reprint numbers

GetARef supports the use of reprint numbers. A user may keep as many as 20 different series of reprint numbers.

Reprint numbers can be applied to - and removed from - single or all references or only tagged references in a reference file.

Importing references

GetARef currently is able to import references from > 130 different sources. The import procedure is simple because GetARef typically recognizes the origin of the dump.			New import routines are developed for free by DatAid AB.
GetARef features a direct access to PubMed that allows searching Medline in the same manner as when PubMed is accessed via web browser. Moreover, this features makes it possible to import references directly from PubMed into a GetARef reference file.
